Great for dirt and gravel, lacking on "trails"

Anonymous runner · Jun 14, 2023

4/5

Overall

For anyone already familiar with the Nike ZoomX cushioning (vaporfly, invincible, dragonfly, etc.), the immediate reaction to lacing up the Zegama is similar. The cushion is a noted upgrade from other foams available on the trail market, and the upper is comfortable with good lacing system and an small spandex collar around the ankle to keep debris out of the shoe. While not waterproof, the shoes do seem to be water resistant and the lack of waterproofing keeps them breathable. This is the first thing to note as you declassify these from the trail shoe category. On the outsole, the rubber seems durable enough, but lacks protection. The lugs on the shoes are also not very aggressive, and combine with the stack height of the ZoomX, make the shoe a bit too tall  and prone to rolling over. That being said, on dirt roads and gravel roads that are a bit too eroded for road trainers, these are great. They are also better than many trail shoes on the pavement, so if your route has combinations of surfaces, these are good. Fits true to nike sizing.
