Overall

I have tried many of the trail shoes from Altra and found that the Timp was my favorite. It had the right level of cushion and stability to manage trails. Not to thick cushion to cause rolling the ankle and thick enough to protect the bottom of the feet from shock and rocks.

Overall

The Altra Timp has a robust feel and lots of good trail comfort and protection. The lacing is poor as it tends to come untied easily and the every changing Altra design for gaiters is irritating (my old ones no longer work). The shoe is more shoe than the Superior and for racing is too much but general day to day training runs on the trail is great.

Great trail kicks

Overall

I have worn these shoes for two ultras and some serious winter running and love them. They are great for people with wider feet with a roomy toe box. The sole has an aggressive enough lug for good traction on dirt and snow but is still good on roads. The zero drop didn’t take a lot of adjustment as they are nicely cushioned for a great soft feel. Would recommend especially for trail runners with wider feet.
