My go-to marathon training shoe

Anonymous runner · Jan 18, 2020

5/5

Overall

I'm going on my fifth year of participating in at least one Abbott World Majors a year. For the first three I struggled with finding the right shoe for the training and the race itself. After dealing with several injuries and pains and visits to specialists I came to the understanding that Altra's are the only brand that I can train, race, and daily wear to rid myself of all these issues. When the Torin 4 Plush came out I tried a pair at a club run in Birmingham, Alabama and was hooked right away. I trained in them for Berlin last year and raced in a second pair as well. My first pair is now retired and I'm now training in the race pair. This shoe is my go-to for all of these marathon training miles. I really hope that they do not change (much) when the next version comes out.

Excellently Plush Trainer

Anonymous runner · Jan 3, 2020

5/5

Overall

I purchased the Torin 4.0 plush for road training, using a 20% off coupon from REI. They've performed really well for road training miles, although I'll admit that I'm not sure that they're any better than the regular Torin 4.0. They're holding up just as well as any trainer these days.

Altra Torin 4 review

Overall

I have been wearing the Torin for years - starting with the Torin 2. The shoe has changed a bit. The 4 mesh is light but feels loose. I understand the wide toe box but it’s so wide my big toe ended up get blistered on the outside. The shoes wear out quickly. For the price I am not impressed.

Bulky and heavy

Anonymous runner · Jul 21, 2019

I’ve been running in Torins for a few years now. I absolutely hate the newest model of them. The sole moves inside the shoe, they feel heavy and bulky and stiff. I dislike them so much I am looking to move away from Altra altogether.
