Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Sitting atop our shoe rankings, reviewers love this shoe.
  • The shoe is praised for all types of running: everyday training, long runs, workouts, and races.
  • Lightweight.
  • Despite being light, the ride is reported to be responsive and supportive.
  • The foam is light and comfortable.

Cons

  • Hefty price tag -- one of the most expensive non-supershoes you can buy.
  • While this is a training shoe (and some people race in it), the stack height of this shoe is 45mm which is above the World Athletics guidelines of 40mm. So it isn't eligibile for official records.
  • Some reviewers complain that the mid-foot of the shoe is slightly too narrow, whereas the toe-box is larger than average.
  • Some of reviewers think this shoe runs too big, by about a half-size.

Definitely comfy, tall stack

Overall

Definitely a well made and comfy shoe.  I describe it as a super shoe without the "super" i.e. plate.  Love the upper.  The pink color is horrible but that was the only one available.  I have twisted my ankle a couple of times on uneven surface but with a 34mm front height seems inevitable.  I use it for daily grind runs it's a little much I think for pure speed or long.

Most Versatile Shoe for Marathon Training, for a price

Anonymous runner · Jun 18, 2024

5/5

Overall

I've run in all types of shoes, from max cushion trainers, super shoes, tempo shoes and daily trainers. The ASICS Superblast is the only shoe that could content in every single category. Its high stack means it can take on those easy days when your feet just want a break from the pounding of the road, but is light enough to wear for everyday miles as well. Its stiff outer midsole creates the perfect amount of snap to feel as if it has a plate, without the drawbacks of increase strain on your feet and ankle ligaments. For someone not pushing sub-3, I can even recommend this as a marathon race day shoe. The only problem is the price, as it's one of the most expensive trainers on the market. It rarely goes on sale and is nearly perpetually sold-out. That should tell you all you need to know about how many people agree they want their hands, or rather feet, on this shoe.

Excellent shoe

Overall

The Superblast is very comfortable and surprisingly durable. I’ve run over 600km in the shoes and they have no signs of wear except some outsole wear. They still feel protective and responsive when running. It is quite expensive though so it may not be for people with a tighter budget.
