I have been runing in Hokas for the last six or seven years. Gavieota is a great shoe.  Very nice cushioning for long runs with a good amount of stability. Highly recommended

Cheaply made but could be great

Anonymous runner · Jun 26, 2024

Overall

When from a BONDI 8 to a Gaviota 5 due to Bondi's soles coming apart. The main difference is the Gaviota's came apart a lot quicker (5 weeks). Took them in to return and get a new pair and was met by resistance due to the fact they were over worn. The shoe is on my feet for two hours a day walk-a-jog for two miles. Due to the fact that 3 pairs now have had the same issue (yes, I keep buying them in hopes it was a defect), I have determined they can not handle the Florida summer heat of 110-130 degrees surface temperature on pavement.

The HOKA for those who need a wide toe box

Anonymous runner · Jun 20, 2024

4/5

Overall

If you require a wide toe box and need a stiff rocker your choices are very limited. The HOKA ONE ONE Gaviota 5 is a very good choice. I have a plantar base injury so I’m needing a shoe to not only help heal the  ligament but to prevent hammertoe. The Gaviota 5 is my every day walking shoe. The only complaint I have is that the shoe is poorly vented and very hot in the summer.
