Overall

Been wearing one version of the 1400 or another for the past 8 years with only minor aches and pains. Although they are marketed and designed as a racing flat, I use them as my primary trainer. They have a decently wide toe box, but are narrower through the mid foot and heel. If you wear an odd size, you can usually find an older version for relatively cheap on Joe's New Balance website.

Great, reliable, simple show

Overall

I'm a big fan of the RC 1400 V4. It lasted me from January or February of 2017 through present day, October of 2018. They got me through three months of 50-60 mpw marathon training, a summer of casual wear, a school year of sporadic running, a summer of daily active (nontraining) wear, another couple months of semiregular running, and another marathon. I'm still wearing them casually and running in them. The uppers outside the big toe and outside the little toe are torn, and the cushioning is probably shot. Some of the rubber is gone and what's left has smoothed out, but it's all fundamentally held together. While they don't look too hot anymore, they've lasted me a long time and I'd definitely buy them again, and put another 500-1000 miles on them.

I run 100% of my miles in this shoe, and I have for the past 6 years with no injuries that required time off of running. They are SOOOO light, even lighter than many spikes, and really smooth. They also dry very, very quickly after being completely soaked.
