Newton Gravity III

I had run in the Newton Gravity IV but didn't want to pay as much so I bought the Newton Gravity III. I love this shoe. It seems to fit my foot really well. I use this shoe predominantly on the road or on well kept park trails. I also get a much better wear pattern on the sole than the Gravity IV. I have worn the middle-front of the lugs and have very little wear on the outside of the heal as I typically wear. I put 480 miles on them before retiring them and I only retired them because I ran 2 hrs on the hot Houston asphalt at 3pm in the afternoon in July and melted the front portion of the sole off (the part that holds the lugs on). The uppers are well fitted and do not have a lot of cushioning, which I like. The laces also hold a knot well and do not come untied.

Overall

Set several PRs in this shoe and also feel comfortable logging miles in it. A bit expensive new, but can often be found on deep discount now. Worth picking up

I like a responsive shoe that is still comfortable, I also look for a durable shoe that lasts for many miles. The Gravity III are not as durable as the Gravity in terms of the out sole but, I have not had them long enough to see if the insole will last the roughly 1000 miles that the Gravity did. The Gravity III are lighter and somewhat more comfortable than the Gravity and though both have quite a bit of appeal with their bright colors, I like the Gravity III just a touch better for the looks.

I really like this shoe, but it does have it's downsides: - loose ankle/heel area. Taking hard turns or running on very uneven ground, the shoe feels like it slides around on your ankle/heel. - the tongue is way to padded and big - the laces are somewhat bulky but better than older Newton shoes I've owned Otherwise, I love these shoes. If the above problems were fixed, I'd possibly consider them my perfect shoe. Very high quality, durable (I've got 500 miles and counting... very little sign of wear), and comfortable. I like the new 5-lug system... you don't notice it much at all compared to the old 4-lug system.
