I wanted a stability shoe after some good experience with the Saucony Guide 8 and the Asics GT 2000 2. The Nike Zoom fly 2 is listed as a light stability shoe, which I certainly found to be the case but still works perfect for me. The upper has a seamless front, is very flexible and comfortable, compared to the Asics and Saucony. There was hardly a breaking-in period. This sock-like feeling however, does mean that your feet are held in place less. During runs this is less of an issue but perhaps is the cause of the first of my two dislikes about this shoe, which is that during longer runs of about 20k and upward the insole starts to slide backwards, at least 0.2 inches. During my last marathon I taped them down but that didn't help completely. My other complaint is that I found the outsole wearing just a bit too much. Perhaps this is because I'm used to the Asics and Saucony soles which are high mileage daily trainers. I find them great for speedwork and shorter runs but not as my primary long distance shoe.
