Best distance spike I've owned

Anonymous runner · Mar 29, 2019

4/5

Overall

The Matumbo 3 is my first foray into distance spikes after being away from the track for more than 10 years, having previously raced in sprint spikes (100-400m), and everything else with XC spikes. Having wide feet, I was expecting a roomier fit, like the Streak LT 4, but that certainly isn't the case. The narrowness isn't too bad in the end, and after several uses, from 800-5000m, the upper has given a bit. The horseshoe plate is flexible and the midsole provides ample cushioning for such a featherweight spike (115g for a US 9.5/EU 43 as measured on my scale), allowing me wear them up to at least 5000m. Those looking to race below 3000m should look elsewhere, as the Matumbo 3 just isn't aggressive enough. Overall, it's a great spike for LD, but let down but the lack of removable spikes. A more aggressive plate would be a welcomed addition.

The spike plate SUCKS!!!!

Anonymous runner · Feb 8, 2018

Overall

Why the fuck are the spikes non-replaceable?? What the fuck Nike? Step on concrete once and the shoe is fucked! Chip a spike and this shoe is fucked! Run an xc race and this shoe is fucked! $120 for a spike plate that could break in a second. Fix this shoe by giving it replaceable fucking spikes.

Surprisingly comfortable

I have wide feet and this makes it hard to find proper fitting spikes, however these fit well and mold to the foot. They also look good.
