Quite versatile distance spike

TibialisAnteriorPain · Aug 12, 2025

5/5

Overall

I come in at 6 foot 194 lbs

This track spike is basically the vaporfly of the track sans CF plate. The plate instead is a more flexible PEBAX plate that has been molded into a full length plastic plate. Depending on your preferences this may be a good or a bad thing as the spike is quite flexible but still stiffer than a non plated spike. According to runrepeat, this achieved 9N of force required to bend the spike on their review. In my opinion, I feel like it could use a bit more stiffness.

The foam is absolutely stellar, as with all track spikes you really do feel the ground but it's not like my older spikes (OG Victory and the MD500 V9) where you just feel the cold, harsh, dream crushing reality of the track. Instead you get a bit of a balance and overall the midsole just feels great.

In terms of fit the spike fits well with and without socks. Although I did experience major Achilles rubbing and bleeding issues and the heel lockdown was subpar to say the least. This could be solved by going half a size down as well, Nike could also solve this problem by adding a second hole in the heel collar so that you can make a runner's knot. The laces are the same ones in the vaporfly. At some point, I think the glued in insole started lifting at the front of one of the spikes which caused a somewhat uncomfortable sensation of the my pinky toe kind of digging at the sides of the insole. I don't know how to explain it.

Upper is good, not much to write home about. I feel like a couple grams could have been shaved if Nike used their atomknit stuff, although I feel like that would make the spike a lot less durable and make it less ideal for XC.
