good performance, but midsole sagged quickly

Overall

I've been using of rmoderate trails and it was great, but only for apprx. 300 km. Next, midsole deteriorate and feet sorrow, even before run.

Overall

The Saucony Peregrine continues to the be workhorse of my trail shoe lineup. While there are other more specialized trail shoes that do some things better than the Peregrine, none come close to the all around versatility and performance of this shoe. The best thing about these shoes is the superb grip provided by the outsole, especially considering that it is accomplished without sacrificing comfort or durability. Whether it is clinging to damp rocks or digging into thick mud, these shoes do a great job of providing a stable base. In addition, the lug pattern retains its depth and shape even after substantial wear on paved paths and blacktop. Speaking of durability, unlike the Altra Timps I have run in, I've gone through 5 pairs of Peregrines now and have yet to suffer a blowout or other structural failure. This shoe is not as cushioned as some other brands, such as Hoka or Altras, but provides plenty of comfort for up to 50 miles. In my most recent 100 mile race I switched into a fresh pair at mile 55, but probably could have kept going on the old ones without suffering too much. This is even as a bigger runner, the Peregrines don't break down under my 195 lb. frame. For more technical bits, there are options from Salomon or La Sportiva that do a better job dancing around, but the Peregrines are solid here, too. I find myself able to quickly transition on loose stones and gravel while bombing downhill, and although the feel of the forefoot isn't as precise as those other options, this shoe doesn't punish you over the long haul in the same way. If you're running a marathon or shorter race in a lot of rocks and roots I would probably look elsewhere, but anything longer and you'll probably appreciate the less punishing ride. As for fit, one added benefit of the Peregrine is that it comes in a wide version and the ISO lacing system allows for a lot more customization in how the shoe feels on your foot. This versatility helps as I can switch to a wide version if I am running a slower, longer, less technical run but still want a familiar feeling shoe. In addition I can play with the laces to allow for extra swelling or to accommodate any sore spots later in a race. As for the price it seems to be right at the lower end of the premium trail shoe market, and I think it presents a great value proposition. Especially considering the extra mileage I am able to pour on thanks to the solid construction mentioned above, I think those on a budget should definitely consider these as an option.
