Skechers MaxRoad 3

Overall

Just hit 475 miles in the Skechers Max Road 3. Everyone looked at me skeptical said they were junk that wouldn't last, boy were they wrong as they have many miles left in them! They were bought on clearance as an experiment for daily training shoe to save cash and not worry about wearing out my expensive Hokas and Nikes which I've never gotten 450 miles of. Now, the Hoka and Nike are a better performance shoe on race day but for slogging miles everyday I'm supper happy and will purchase the new Max Road 4!

One of the best shoes I have ever run in.

Overall

I first started with Sketchers when they had the Go Run Ultra R2, and they were fantastic. Great toe width, brilliant comfort at the heal (nice a soft so that there is no digging into your Achilles ) The back has a slit so that it holds tight to your heal, but doesn't hurt it. The memory foam is very soft and durable. Lasting well past the 400 mile mark they were brilliant. I did however boost them with a memory foam inner toward the 250 mile mark, but the sole and the upper held up very well. 230 odd grams makes them light enough to go on the long runs easily and comfortably. All the runs I have done, my legs have been the problem, not my feet. The reason they do not get 10 stars is that when they changed to the Max Road 3 (that I now use), there seems to be NO difference, but for a long time I really struggled to get new shoes in the UK, to the extent that I had to buy a different pair (On Cloud), I didn't like those, and then I had to bring 3 pairs in from USA. This is because I am doing a lot of miles leading up to the Chicago marathon, and I don't want to be caught short again. I do not see why they replaced the old model, the new model seems identical.

don't look at the label

Pros: Super light, almost racing shoe light. Plenty of cushion, but not spongy energy absorbing cushion. Very comfortable on the foot; running, walking, standing. Can be found at very affordable prices, less than $50 if you're lucky. Uppers never wear out. Cons: Cannot be found in shoe stores; you almost HAVE to buy online. Outsole durability is low, mine wear through in spots after 350-400 miles. Other runners cannot get past the label. I arrived at the Skechers running shoes through an online recommendation and stumbling across a pair at Ross for $25 and giving them a shot. That was 3-4 years ago and I haven't turned back. The Skechers running shoes just keep getting better, the Max Road being the latest in their cushioned road training shoe line. These are true "Clifton Killers", much lighter, plusher, far more comfortable, and wide enough for normal feet (and then some). I went through 3 pairs of the previous model, Ultra Road 2. The MaxRoad has minor updates. Coming later this summer will be the MaxRoad 4, with the much lauded Hyperburst midsole. I can't wait. I ran in Hokas before, and still have some trail models in rotation, but I'm firmly sold on Skechers GoRun MaxRoad, Ride, and GoRun 6/7 as my asphalt shoes. I put the most time/miles on the MaxRoad.

No Complaints So Far

Overall

I have only had them for about 2 months, but they are some of the best shoes I have ever owned. They legitimately check all boxes; they are comfortable, great cushioning that are equally responsive for long easy runs and faster things like tempos and strides. I have only put about 100 miles on them but they have been perfect. Not the greatest laterally or in slick conditions, but still usable. They also run true to size for those who want to know. Slightly narrow but my feet aren't and they still feel fine.
