Cushioned and Bouncy

muddyxc · Nov 28, 2020

5/5

Overall

This shoe is a great daily trainer for someone who wants a cushioned shoe that is not overly mushy. The Hyper-Burst midsole provided a very nice ride that was bouncy and not terrible to use for more uptempo workouts. The shoe fits slightly big, but this did not affect the lockdown in any way. Because of its plenty of cushioning in a lighter weight package, this shoe was a great daily trainer and long run shoe.

Fantastic midsole, but some caveats with the upper

Anonymous runner · Jun 29, 2020

Overall

I'll be another voice in the chorus proclaiming that Hyperburst is fantastic. The bounce and softness are unparalleled. I have run in a few of the new "superfoams" and for me, this one is the one to beat. The upper is breathable enough- three same if not better then the knit upper on the NB 1080v10. But there are two problems I'm having with the upper. First, I just can't find the right lacing tension for one of my feet. If I leave the laces even remotely loose, my foot flops around and the fit is sloppy. If I crank the laces at ALL, though, the pressure buildup leaves the top of my foot sore for days. Second, and this is a problem I have with other shoes occasionally, at the toe-off flex point, the upper material folds in and forms another pressure point on my toes at each step. Outsole traction is good, and the rubber and midsole seem to be durable enough. If they resolve the issues with the upper, these will be a stunner.

Great all-around trainer

- Lacing/upper fit was finicky, but once figured out (or ignored) ride is great. - Bouncy/responsive ride is great for easy days, long runs, and light tempos. - Can handle pickups and faster paces, but wouldn't wear these for an actual workout

Overall great all around shoe!

Anonymous runner · Apr 24, 2020

Overall

The go run ride 8 has improved on the very few weaknesses that the 7 had. Solid shoe for everyday runs and you can pick up the pace comfortably. One great thing about the shoe is it is very soft and the break in time is very short. Zero discomfort from the start and will last you as long as most shoes on the market. It reminds you of a Nike Pegasus and a Hoka Clifton if they had a shoe baby.

Good just not as good as the 7's

tooniron · Feb 6, 2020

Overall

The idea of a GO Run Ride 7 with hyper burst midsole and goodyear rubber seemed too good to pass. My Go Run Ride 7's were a revelation, good for long easy runs but able to speed up in them too. The 8's seem to be very similar apart from the midsole everybody raves about and the rubber that sounds good too. But putting it all the good things together has spoilt it somewhat. It's still an OK shoes, still better than the Run Ride 2's and Run Ride 5's I've owned, but not as quick, fun or comfortable as the 7's. I like to have a quicker pair and a more cushioned long easy run pair, Razor and Go Run Ride seem pretty good for me, since the basic GoRun went wrong (maybe the 7+ will get it back) and they dropped the GoBionic. I'm still a Skechers runner and the Razor 3 is my next aim, but the poor distribution in the UK and the slight disappointment with the Ride 8's mean I am starting to waver and look at other brands.
