Overall

The shoe is responsive and light. Feels good but it certainly isn't something I can wear for more than 8-9 miles. They are not comfortable for easy running. But faster speed stuff they feel great. I plan on racing half marathon's in them, but I think they are too light for more than that. The Altra Ones were the same weight and much more cushion for the weight. You could do day-to-day runs in the Ones, but not these solstices. Anyways, I like them for what they are, but Altra still doesn't have a good shoe for light weight trainers/Marathon racing (unless you're like 5'7" and sub 125 pounds. (aka: Elite marathoner size)) The forefoot layout and the zero drop is why I love your shoes. It's great. But the durability and the lack of the light weight trainer is a bummer. That said...I have four different models of your shoes and wear them all.

Good shoe for workouts in training

stunzyyy · May 6, 2018

Overall

I largely bought this shoe just to have a lower drop shoe to rotate out, just to be more well rounded overall. Being relatively light, I have found its best use is generally as a workout shoe. I enjoy the shoe, and even ran a couple of track races in it successfully this past track season. Oddly enough, despite the wider toebox, I did end up with a toenail cutting another toe more than once in these shoes. It even happened once more after I cut the toenails, which was quite puzzling. However, that could just be a problem for me personally. I have some concerns about the durability but there aren't any real signs of wear at around 60 miles, so it is too early to tell.
