Best shoes for overpronators

JWB · Jan 3, 2018

5/5

Overall

These are the best running shoes for slight overpronators. I run 7.5 miles/day in them 6 days/week (45 miles/week) at 5:40-5:50 mile pace on roads and a concrete running/biking trail. I switch them out every 800 miles, or every 4 months, so I spend $300/year on running shoes running in these. I could probably do every 1000 miles if I wanted to, but I think 800 miles is a reasonable mark to switch them out at. I've been running in them for 5 years and haven't had any serious injuries in them (just slight aches and pains here and there). Before running in them, I ran in regular trainers for overpronators from various brands and regularly suffered from either Achilles tendonitis or stress fractures. The only downside with these shoes is that Asics has discontinued them. I did stock up on them before they were discontinued, but once I run out of new ones and exhaust all the miles I can out of my existing pairs, I'll have to find a new shoe. So far the closest thing I've found in terms of lightweight flats for slight overpronators are the DS trainers, but they're a little heavier than I'd like. I'm hoping another brand comes out with a good pair of lightweight racing flats for overpronators soon.
