Overall

The Speedstars are the most durable shoe I have ever worn. I have gotten as many as 1,040 miles out of a pair (the second generation) and never any less than 500 miles. They are perfect for "cautious minimalism", i.e. everyday training shoes that are under 10oz. The speedstars are equal parts firm and flexible, and it is a shame that ASICS appears to have stopped manufacturing new models.
