Excellent road to trail shoe

Florian_Ire · Feb 24, 2020

5/5

Overall

The Sense Ride 2 were my very first trail shoe. Got a few more ever since but they will forever be remembered for being part of the journey to start enjoying off road. Clearly they are quality shoes, as you expect from Salomon. Tey deliver excellent grip on the trails, even work well on more technical terrain while even run well on the road, if one has to. It's like the perfect "daily trainer" for a trail runner. I can run fast interval workouts on sharp inclines as well as longer efforts, no problem. However given their "road to trail" nature they lack in protection. You'll feel stones and after 20k this can become hard on the feet. But then it's a shoe that tries to get the balance between road and trail right, which it does.

Step back from original Sense Ride

Overall

Mostly great shoe - quick lace system surprisingly good, great traction and moderate cushion. My only complaint is the heel is not as supportive as the previous version. It feels looser to me, especially on more technical trails, I don't have the same confidence it the secure fit that I particularly enjoyed in the original Sense Ride.

Comfortable and Affordable

Anonymous runner · Jan 7, 2020

4/5

Overall

Comfortable, lightish weight trail shoe with good grip and solid lacing system. Have only used these for about fifteen miles but on lava and through mud have done well. Seems as if these are quite durable and got them on sale at Christmas through Salomon directly. Looking forward to putting in some big vertical days in these up on Mauna Loa, Hawaii Island.
