Great for marathon, a little much shoe for shorter races

Overall

Good responsive cushioning for a 10k this AM as tempo workout, maybe a little too much shoe if actually a race. Wore for Boston Marathon in April, great shoe for that.

Great on Perforance - Not So Much On Looks

I bought my first pair of Sketchers Performance shoes - the GO Run Razor 4 with Hyper mid-sole. It's taken me a while to get past the brand Sketchers and the funky styling, but I decided to give it a shot. Well - these shoes are pretty damn good! I initially bought them because they are just about 6 oz. in my Men's Size 9. I like light shoes, but don't expect a lot of comfort for longer runs when the weight goes that low. But, with these the ride is great. I get a lot of rebound and nice cushioning. They are great of up-tempo and long runs. My legs are not nearly as beat up as usual for shoes this light. On the down side for me, is the shoe marketing / design. Putting SPEED in giant letters across the the shoe is not my thing. But, that's less important for me than performance, so I'll deal with it. The ride is not quite firm enough - I don't think for 5k races. But, these would be a good option for 10k up to HM, maybe even marathons....

Pricey lightweight racer/trainer

Could not find any Mizuno Ekidens to replace my worn out pair, saw a pair of these at a local store (but not in my size) and was intrigued. Of course they weren't available until last week in my size, but I ordered and hoped the hype was worth the $129. These shoes are snug in the forefoot, and a hair short compared to Mizuno and Brooks trainers. I have a high arch and a narrow foot so I like that but others may not. I already found that my cushioned running socks make it a too tight fit. Ran a set of 800s on the track to try them out. The heel/toe drop is greater than the Ekidens, and helps propel you onto your toes in a natural motion. Cushioning is excellent but not squashy. I had no complaints about fit or cushioning after the workout. The review questions ask how I fell about this shoe after training in it. I have no history with it yet, just the one workout. But after a lifetime of running, I know that if a shoe doesn't feel great out of the box, it never will. This one does, for me anyway. How many miles will I get out of the blown rubber sole? had my Ekidens for 7 YEARS. (and they are still good enough for Plan B) I HATE the "SPEED" LOGO ON THE SIDE. Whose idea was that? This has all the makings of a great shoe, don;t make it look stupid. and last but not least, THE PRICE. Hard to justify that much for a shoe when you can buy top of the line Brooks, Saucony, Asics, etc for $80 or less. Especially if these turn out to have a limited life. I plan to only use them for racing and an occasional time trial or track session to help them last.
