good, but doesn't work for me

Anonymous runner · May 31, 2020

Overall

Very nice upper for feet, but I don't think that work perfect on technical trails. Grip is great, lugs are not deep, used off rather quickly on pavement. Cushioning moderate, I like it, but it rather heavy as moderate class of cushion. Ground feeling is OK, I don't lose touch contact with shapres below my foot. Honestly, I'm using them as everyday shoes, due to discomfort in midfoot area during intense use - I guess that is only my individual issue with right foot.

Solid, versatile, trail shoe

Overall

The Flow is confidence inspiring on rocky or rooty technical trail, yet also good riding on the smooth easy trails and even asphalt. It has a 6mm offset, which is low enough that the heel doesn't get in the way on downhills. adidas Terrex athlete Luis Alberto Hernando says that this is what he would choose for the Transvulcania ultra race, and I can see why. There's enough protection and cushion to remain comfortable for a long, technical, rocky trail, the outsole is super grippy, and the upper securely keeps everything in place. That also means that this isn't a super lightweight shoe. I'd say it's medium weight (310 gram/men's 9 is the spec), which suits it's purpose as a good trail training shoe and long distance racing shoe. The build quality is super solid. I expect the upper and the midsole to hold up several times longer than the typical Hoka trail shoe. I never wear out outsoles, so I don't expect problems there. It is a one piece outsole, so it's not going to start peeling off. Even though this was a new/current year model, I was able to get it for only $63 ($130 retail) on the adidas.com website. Just check the website once in a while, and the deals and coupon codes that can be combined will pop up from time to time.
