Overall

I got these for $60, which I think is a steal for what they are, at a local running store. These were my first pair of Newtons, so the forefoot lugs took some getting used to. It took a few days but they didn't cause any problems. I did notice some tightness on the bottoms of my feet, especially in the arches, though. The heel is a bit soft for a "minimalist" shoe, but this one is marketed as Newton's quasi-stability shoe, a role it serves fairly well. The Kismets feel decently fast up to about 5:00-5:30 pace, and after that they start to feel a little clunky due to the heel cushion. Definitely don't plan on doing any fast track work in these. If I were to get them again I would only use them for mileage and base training. Also, the durability on the lugs and the outsole isn't great. Doing form drills on a track every day is absolutely brutal on shoes, but I would expect these to hold up longer than they did. The lugs are worn down and the outsoles under the toes are totally shredded after two weeks of doing drills in them.
