wanted to like this shoe but....

Overall

Pros: light, good cushion for the weight, good traction, appropriately snug for a racing shoe. Cons: tongue attached with Frankenstein like stitch (weird given the upper is without seams), upper easily torn when scrapped I wanted a racing weight shoe that could handle a marathon. I am only running in Brooks shoes (Ghost, Launch, and Caldera) love them all. Wore the Hyperion on an 8-mile tempo run. Felt great exactly what I wanted. Then I stepped off the edge of the path scrapping the side of the shoe on the curb - tore the shoe! Then towards the end of the run noticed rubbing on the top of my left foot where the tongue attaches to the upper. Nickle sized blister on the top of my foot (I've never had that happen before). I compared how the tongue attaches to my other Brooks and weirdly the Hyperion has the most noticeable stitching of them all. Not a great first run and could not picture using this shoe over a marathon distance. Bummer!

Overall

This shoe replaced the T7 of which I was a fan and didn't want to see replaced. I was skeptical at first, but have been won over by the snug fit and quick feel when I put on the Brooks Hyperion. When putting on the Hyperion it feels like it just wants to run and run fast! The Hyperion has just the right amount of cushioning that allows me to feel the surface I'm running on but not every pebble, twig, or crack that I pass over. My only complaint with the Hyperion is with the sole of the shoe, when the sole is wet it has a very little grip which makes running in the rain a different experience. I had the same issue the T7's. I highly recommended for speed work and racing.
