Good, but not the Vaporfly Sub I was looking for

Overall

This shoe was advertised as the spadework trainer for people who run in the Vaporfly 4%. I run my important races in the Vaporflys, and I love them (I do not use Nike's for any other training or 'fun' races). The Vaporflys have a soft springiness that I love. I can run a marathon at a good clip, and my legs don't feel as fatigued as they do in the other shoes I have run in (mainly On Clouds). The springiness is not just from the carbon plate. The foam on a Vaporfly is very soft, to the point that it seems like durability is much worse than other shoes. The Pegasus Turbos do not have any of this springiness. They are not stiff, but they aren't soft either. They are definitely light, and have a similar fit to the Vaporflys. I'm using them 3 times a week during my speed/hard training days, and they are fast, and I'm getting good results. But at $180, its not something I would do in my next training cycle. I may try the Nike Zoom and see if they have a bit of the springiness that I love in the Vaporflys.

excellent lightweight trainer for low-mileage old guy

have been running in these for the past month, having switched from the nike trail zoom kiger 4. i prefer the heel-toe pitch in this and the lighter weight. as an older runner with calves prone to straining/pulling, the pitch and light weight of the shoes seem to ease some of the strain on my calves, helping to keep me on the road. after a month they feel a bit flatter and I ordered another pair. not sure yet on the durability but so far I am very happy with this shoe. Best pegasus i have ever had by a mile.

I bought a pair on a whim - totally expecting to return it. But one run became 2. 2 became 4. And within a week, I ordered a 2nd pair so I would always have a fresh pair (run 2x a day). These suckers are awesome! Light. Cushioned. Responsive. Stay put on your foot. They're the best shoe I ever put on. And I've had a collection that ran upwards of 32 different pair of running shoes, before. I'll save the 4% for race day. But for EVERY other type of run, these are the go-to.

So filling in the marks out of ten ratings, you would gain the impression that this shoe is decent. And you would be right - but that's all it is. However it sells at a premium price and the marketing implies speed and responsiveness. Unfortunately the shoe is unresponsive and feels rather ploddy. Stripping away the marketing guff, it's a lightweight, mildly cushioned, comfortable trainer with a decent durable outsole. (They've tried to make it look fairly funky, but as a middle aged man that kind of thing is neither here nor there for me.) My first walk around in the shoe was sockless and revealed a true to size fit, and no hotspots. I decided to try them out on a 19 mile trail race. Slightly risky, I know, but the shoe held up well in terms of comfort across a rutted and pretty loose stony surface. Midsole wear was minimal after the race, but the cushioning was not tremendously effective against the surface. Definitely one for the road. I've since plodded out a couple of weeks training taking in all paces: easy, recovery, marathon effort runs, a couple of 5k/10k efforts, and a 20m lsr in them. There is no zippy/skippy feeling from them but they are relatively innocuous once you get used to the lack of response. They are mildly protective but unlike the 4% ZoomX shoe, you can still come away from hard efforts feeling beat up around the lower legs. Overall, a disappointment and not offering much more than say the Saucony Kinvara (with a slightly higher drop) or the Saucony Freedom ISO.
