How it ranks
The HOKA Clifton 6 ranks above most daily trainers in our data. Comfort and cushioning are its strongest sub-ratings. Looks scores well below its other sub-ratings. The rating is based on 68 runner reviews and 10 other rated shoes in the Clifton product line.
Confidence
How settled the rating is against every other rated shoe. A shoe can rate high on confidence with relatively few reviews of its own when its product line has a long record and external ratings from retailer sites agree. Confidence is low when we have few ratings or when runners disagree.

The bars show roughly how much each source contributes to this shoe’s rating. Their influence depends on how many reviews we’ve collected, how many earlier versions are in the product line, and the external ratings available.
“There is no pop at all — I just sink into the foam. It's like running in mud.”
“The shoes are narrow, even in the 2E. This is most noticeable in the toebox, around the pinky toe.”
“The cushioning is responsive and doesn't have that feeling of sinking into the shoe.”
“After around 100 miles the tread started to wear away and significantly so after about 200 miles.”
“Have to switch shoes every 250-300 miles to avoid injury.”
“Other cushioned shoes can feel blocky or heavy, but the Clifton really doesn't.”
“It provides plenty of cushioning but is by no means a slow shoe.”
“The shoe has a very comfortable and cushioned feel without compromising responsiveness.”
“I like the ride for long easy runs but for anything faster is pretty bad.”
“I got black toenails and blisters on the tip of second and third toes.”
“The shoes don't respond all that well to harder efforts, and it feels like energy is being wasted.”
“Great for slow easy runs but boy is it slow.”
“Would be tricky to do a speedier workout as they are not very responsive and feel a bit bulky.”
“The comfort on runs >10 miles is great.”
“It has so much cushioning that it requires an aggressive running style.”
“They are stiffer underfoot but appear to be more durable on the bottom of the shoe.”
“These shoes are simply the best cushioning to absorb impact for older bodies.”
“I don't even feel like I'm wearing a shoe.”
“They last me about 300 miles, but are worth their value.”
“These are pretty light weight, and ride smoothly.”
“Sizing is +1/2 size large.”
“It's not particularly responsive or light, but it is very comfortable.”
“Not as good for faster paces but great for long runs and easy days.”
