Started wearing the GT series shoes back in 2002 and have been wearing them ever since. Everytime I switch over to another shoe I end up with some wierd "itis" injury. So if it isn't broke, why fix it right? Well, I am now 30 and I am a smokejumper for the US Forest Service. We run roughly 50 mpw standard 5 day work week along with a variety of other athletic routines. The duties of a Smoke Jumpper are hard on the body and I have since had to add "Super Feet" insoles to my Ascics GT 2170s to help prevent planters facieitis. I'm not too sure if its the change in the GT series, my age, my job, or how I train (maybe a little of all of these) but I for sure miss the older modles of the GT series as I felt more comfortable in them and encountered fewer injuries. The price also increases with popularity, which was a bit of a bummer, but they are fairly durable and last their dollar worth still. A lot of the guys at the Smoke Jumper base are switching over to the Hooka shoes for their dominating cushion effect. As smoke jumpers we are exposed to high levels of impact and thus a result of tender ankles, knees and other precious running joints, so I guess a high cushion shoe might help a bit 0in that arena, however my philosophy has always been to either get stronger or get more support, more cushion seems just like a band-aid. Sorry for the long rant, just love this subject and Letsrun!

The Asics GT Series 2XXX series has been my go-to running shoe since college. It is a well balanced shoe in terms of weight, cushioning, support, and durability.
