Confidence

How settled the rating is against every other rated shoe. A shoe can rate high on confidence with relatively few reviews of its own when its product line has a long record and external ratings from retailer sites agree. Confidence is low when we have few ratings or when runners disagree.

Pros

  • One reviewer gets more than 600 miles from a pair, and both call it good value at the price they paid.
  • One reviewer finds it well cushioned, though less so under the forefoot, and uses it for both long and short runs.

Cons

  • Comfort averages 3.5 out of 5 across its two reviews, the lowest of its dimensions, and one reviewer finds it uncomfortable and slow to break in.
  • That reviewer says the midsole gives out well before the outsole, and the other finds the upper thin around the toe.

ASICS Gel Pulse 7

3/5

Overall

As a bargain hunter I will only buy older shoes that are a lower price. As a mid-priced shoe this is a great shoe to run in. There's lots of cushion, but not on the front part, and the overall feel is nice and comfortable. The weight is not bad for the price, and they feel like a sturdy shoe that will last, except possibly the upper around the toe looks like it could have a hole in the near future, but only time will tell, as it hasn't happened yet, but just feels a little thin there. I found this shoe to be suitable for long and short distances, and wear them as casual shoes also!

Pros: -well priced (~$50 for me) -high durability (put in >600 miles on these) -decent looks Cons -little bit uncomfortable -takes a while to break in -feels like it could do with a more supportive midsole Personal Notes: The midsole gives out much faster than the rubber outsole
