Pros

  • Cushioning draws 5.0 out of 5, and one reviewer ran the last 60 miles of a 100 miler in them with 12,000 feet of descent and no blisters.
  • Reviewers find it comfortable on pavement, which suits routes that mix surfaces.
  • A 38mm heel stack on a 4mm drop.

Cons

  • Reviewers report slipping on wet rock, mud and snow, and say the lugs are not aggressive.
  • Several reviewers find the tall stack prone to rolling on technical ground.
  • Value draws the lowest ratings of any dimension at 4.0 out of 5, and one reviewer would not expect more than 200 km from a pair.

Pretty Good XC shoe

4/5

Overall

I run XC for my middle school team and this season I chose the Zegama's. I ran 2 miles everyday for practice and for races and these shoes stayed durable the whole time. Not a single time did they break or tear for the 3 month long season. These are a pretty good shoe and I would recommend it for people running 1-3 miles. They have good cushioning and were a good fit(I would stay exact sizing, no sizing up or down). They did get dirty quick in the white color-way I chose but putting them in the washing machine cleaned them right up(after getting all the dirt off first). These are a pretty good shoe and good for the price, wood recommend!

Run in Zegamas almost every day, 65 mile weeks.

Overall

I use this shoe for all of my base runs, and it feels great. Incredibly stable, but as other users have said, I think its mislabeled. I have run on trails in it, and it doesn't feel like anything special. I run almost all of my miles on pavement, and these shoes feel great. The zoomx foam section is noticeable as well, Ive had to run workouts in them and it's not too bad. Great daily trainer, great stability.

Best long distance trail shoe, hands down.

5/5

Overall

The Zegama is a gem of a shoe. I would call it a 50 mile plus specialist racer, or an everyday trail shoe. Perfect cushion while remaining stable and supportive. The upper feels great, think speedgoat circa 2018, but much softer. It has the cushioned feel of the hoka Stinson but with less weight and a slimmer base, although still wide. I ran the last sixty miles of a hundred miler in these, which had about 12,000 feet of descent, and had zero issues. No blisters whatsoever and my feet felt good and comfy at the end. The cushion never blew out and three months later, they still feel awesome.

Great Midsole, Spacious Toebox, Bad Everything Else

3/5

Overall

Love the ZoomX in here. Yes, it's not the most stable but gosh it is fun. Great underfoot protection and you'll bounce you're way up a hill. However, if you're foot has any volume, you like running when their is a 1% chance of rain, or you would like a shoe to last more than 200km's, then I'd suggest elsewhere... The Hoka Mafate Speed 4, for example.
