Pros

  • Value draws 4.7 out of 5, the highest mark of any dimension, with reviewers repeatedly buying it on clearance.
  • Runners with narrow heels report a secure fit with a roomy toe box.

Cons

Comfy and speedy but not very durable

4/5

Overall

I use this shoe for speed workouts. I would wear it for easy runs too if the sole would last longer. I get about 250 miles before some portion of the sole is worn to the foam. By 300 miles, the shoes are done. Other shoes I own routine get 450 to 500 miles before they are toast due to sole wear. I keep buying the Zantes because I really like how they fit, a bit narrower in the toe box. They are really comfortable and light, yet still have some cushion.

Overall

This is my first pair of New Balance Shoes ever. I have been a Mizuno and Asics guy for about 7 years. My reliable go-to shoes have changed with these companies so that they are no longer recognizable, so it was time to start looking somewhere else. I am a hearty, neutral runner with pretty good form and speed for my age (51) and wanted something for easy runs, long mileage, and looked at what a few friends where wearing for this purpose. I love this shoe. It is light yet cushy, hugs my feet well. Occassionally the upper and tongue digs in on the inside, right under the laces if my feet are having a slightly swollen or sensitive day after a hard effort day. It hasn't caused any problems with skin though. The 6mm drop is also a little smaller that what I was used to with race day shoes (10k or above), so my calves feel it. I can see that this will take some getting used to and extra care on my part. The shoe feels wonderful, so it's worth it. I also think the shoe feels faster than my watch tells me it is, which could be just the ease the shoe rolls over the midfoot to toe-off.

Great racing shoe for longer distances

5/5

Overall

I love the Zante's for racing longer distances including the half marathon. It is durable enough for the longer races or to use as a daily trainer. Also, the shoes are a great value at around $100 MSRP and you can often find older models on clearance.
