old school cool - adizero hagio 2

Overall

I've had this shoe for a number of years bought on sale online. As a heel striker (about 135lb, 32min 10k) it was very unforgiving for me on pavement. The rubber nubs on the shoe seem very hard, almost like an xc flat. The exposed plastic torsion shank wouldn't be great on gravel or rocks otherwise this would make a great trail racing shoe. After sitting in my closet for many years it's returned to the rotation as an xc racer. In 2020 it's far from a fancy racing flat but in it's day it was considered highly cushioned for a flat, which is laughable now. Get this shoe for track workouts or racing on packed dirt or mellow trails, but not for easy runs.

Very solid choice for a flat

Overall

Great racing flat, I've used it for races up to the half marathon (after training with them a lot). It might not be the most comfortable for some people so I would recommend trying them on if possible. I used these shoes for road, trail, track, and grass tempos or intervals and found them to be usable on all surfaces but especially good on dirt or road. Overall, I liked these shoes.

An underrated yet impressive racing flat

Overall

This shoe is really fantastic overall. I purchased it in early 2013 and it is still able to pull off impressive mileage nonetheless. Obscured by the more popular adios, it's an even lighter racing flat that never let's me down for the 10km race. I'm a consistent 33 minute runner with about 120 pounds. It's not as comfortable as the adios boost 2 for sure (I never had the original adios) but it screams speed when you put them on. During the first year it was exclusively used for track workouts and races only. The three following years I planned on using them as the secondary racer to the adios boost 2, believing that the adios boost 2 would be the best choice. The hagio 2 would ultimately act as a secondary shoe and this time I would use them for quick and medium tempos, track workouts and even long runs on the road. I figured they would tear about a year later. I was wrong. I actually ended up returning to the hagio 2 as my main racer because it just felt more natural on my feet. But I still continued to use them for long runs and tempos mainly. My main racer today is the Hagio 1 (which I purchased in October 2016) but the Hagio 2 is still alive and well in 2018. The sole is still fairly rubberized, and the sides have just a little bit of wear. The top has a little hole about the size of a small fingernail only. I guess when I bought them I was paranoid that the weight of this shoe would correlate to faster wear and tear. It wasn't the case at all. 80€ for a shoe that lasted for 4 years? Yes they rotated between a bunch of pairs but I'd say it was a great purchase for the amount of miles they endured (and still endure). If adidas decide to produce them again I will for sure buy 4 or 5 pairs no kidding.

Great, low profile racer, with a 4-5mm heel drop. My mileage workhorse as well as my shoe for sessions. Perfect for someone light who wants to ensure that they don't get lazy with their biomechanics whilst running
