Brooks Glycerin: Cushion Shoe for Big Runner

4/5

Overall

I've used Nike Pegasus for years, but found that recent versions have felt like they have less cushion than past versions (don't know if this is true). I'm 6'2", ~200 lbs. I have a long athletic career and at 41 years old I have some arthritis and general pain that will only continue to get worse so I want a cushion shoe. Brooks Glycerin is a great shoe. Plenty of cushion for my high arch foot. I don't need a lot of support, just the cushion. Definitely feels like more cushion than the Pegasus. Only real complaint is the thicker material in the upper - feet get pretty sweaty which has never really been a problem for me in the past. Not a big deal but something that could be corrected. I coach both track and xc in Oregon and the shoe works both on and off road.

I didn’t destroy it

5/5

Overall

My foot is slightly wide, but not wide enough to need a wide shoe. Often my pinkie toe rubs a hole in the side of my shoes and I just deal with it. I have had 4 pairs of Glycerines, with 400+ miles on my current pair, and my pinkie toe has yet to escape nor is it painfully rubbing as has happened with other shoes. The upper has enough give to accommodate my toe, but is strong enough not to let it break through.

Good Shoe

4/5

Overall

I am a bit of a heelstriker when it comes to running so the back end of the shoe is starting to wear out. Even parts of it are starting to look like I could peel off the bottom. After about 200-250 miles the threads started to get a bit worn and you could tell the bottom was starting to give out a bit. Mostly worn on roads. I've always loved how comfortable these shoes are but with any shoe, they are a bit expensive for what you get.
