What runners say

“They provide just enough cushion for the long haul, but are VERY responsive when you ask them to go up-tempo.”
5/5 Full review 35 mpw training for a half marathon came from the Newton Energy NR
“I get about 250 miles before some portion of the sole is worn to the foam. By 300 miles, the shoes are done.”
4/5 Full review 45 mpw training for a marathon
“The upper has a really narrow forefoot and midfoot, which is definitely a bad choice if you're wide-footed like me.”
3/5 Full review 50 mpw
“The shoe gives a slightly bouncy feel, and is sufficiently cushioned without being smushy.”
5/5 Full review 40 mpw training for a half marathon came from the Saucony Kinvara 5
“The cushioning is rock hard and feels similar to running on hard ground.”
3/5 Full review 50 mpw
“My big toe presses against the inside of a lot of running shoes, but not these.”

“Gives a solid cushion, but still light and simple enough to feel quick.”
4/5 Full review 35 mpw training for a half marathon came from the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14
“The sides of the upper are not that durable, and split open earlier than the sole loses cushion for wider feet people.”

“V3's major change was that they became much firmer and provided a more snappy response to the road.”

Pros

  • Light at 8.8 oz on a 6mm drop, and reviewers use it for tempos, track sessions and long runs alike.
  • Value draws 4.7 out of 5, the highest mark of any dimension, with reviewers repeatedly buying it on clearance.
  • Runners with narrow heels report a secure fit with a roomy toe box.

Cons

Zante review

5/5

Overall

Have run in the zante for a year and a half and happy that the new versions are even better than the previous ones. Upper feels nicer and shoe is just as responsive as ever. Comfortable shoe I'll run anything in from long progressions to easy runs.

New Balance Zante V3

4/5

Overall

Got two pairs of these for a steal, so my expectations were minimal. Still, it has turned out to be a decent shoe that gets the job done for all my easy mileage and long runs. Not my favorite shoe ever, but when money is tight and you desperately need shoes - I'd go with the Zantes every time. Pretty smooth, basic shoe. The cushioning leaves you wanting more at times, especially with all of the shoes on the market these days packing it on. But most of the time it suffices. It's one of those shoes that you don't really notice when it's on. Which is a good thing, sometimes.

NB Zante V1 was better than V3

4/5

Overall

I've put probably 600-700 miles on the shoe, and it's held up well. Unfortunately, the material and fit of V3 doesn't match that of V1. The forefoot is tighter, and while it lasts a bit longer the fresh foam seems stiffer on this version than on the first. That has let me put more mileage on the shoe, but I'd rather it be more comfortable. That being said, it is still a very good shoe at typically very good price, and I'll keep buying it.
