How settled the rating is against every other rated shoe. A shoe can rate high on confidence with relatively few reviews of its own when its product line has a long record and external ratings from retailer sites agree. Confidence will score low when we have few ratings or when runners disagree.

Best Running Shoe I've ever owned.

5/5

Overall

I've been a Newton Distance fan from the beginning. When the Distance IV first came out I grabbed a pair and was thrilled with the result. In fact, I kept buying these shoes over and over as they went on sale. I believe I ended up owning 8 pairs, of which I still have 3 final pairs in my current circulation. I only wish I had bought more. I wasn't as pleased with the Newton V. I found them stiffer than the IV and not quite as comfortable. I typically put in 450 - 500 miles on a pair of shoes before retiring them. The Newton IV still felt comfortable at 450 miles, but I still retired each pair to avoid risking injury. I've also found these shoes take very well to washing. So, I'm able to clean them up and keep looking great in my favorite running shoes of all time!
