Overall

I always go back to Asics after trying other brands. The shoes are immediately comfortable and have plenty of room for the toes. The arch support is sufficient but not so much that you feel trapped in the shoes.

Great Value/Durability, Mediocre Performance

Overall

While the Asics Gel Venture 5 may not compare to other trail runners when dealing with tough technical trails (particularly steep downhills and muddy routes), it makes up with its low price-point and high durability. The shoe is a hybrid-road/trail shoe, which is either a benefit or a disadvantage depending on what kind of routes you run. It lacks a rock bed and any serious traction but is useful if you need to run on roads during parts of your trail run. Overall, I probably have 600 miles on these shoes and they're still not too worn out.
