More Miles for Your Dollar!

I run 70-80 miles per week typically and I am not someone who changes their shoes all that often. I have on multiple occasions gone up to and over 1000 miles on one pair of these shoes.

Best Budget Shoe Out There

Anonymous runner · Sep 28, 2025

Overall

Initially bought the Asics GT 1000 as I needed a basically all white shoe for Plebe Summer at the United States Naval Academy. Upon actually running in them, I found them to be comfortable, and fitting for my running form (relatively neutral gate). After Plebe Summer, I began running for the USNA XC Team. Unfortunately, I was not exactly God's Gift to Navy XC, so I found myself buying my own shoes. The GT 1000 fit my budget, and the initial pair I had didn't result in an injury and were comfortable, so I gave them another shot. 10 years later, and despite the fact I could buy much more expensive shoes, I'm still sold on the GT 1000. I have had Kayano's, GT 2000's, and DS Trainers during this time as well, and despite them being cooler looking and using more comfortable and higher quality material, the overall result is the same; No injuries. This may just be a result of my body type, but even with a few 100 mile weeks sprinkled through that 10 year period, I still remain, basically, injury free. All of this despite suffering 2 street fractures in high school running in higher end Asics and Nike shoes. Overall, you won't be the coolest kid at the local group run, but you'll arrive injury free and with a little extra cash for beers
