I have had a lot of IT Band issue with a high arch and very even strike pattern but slightly wide foot. Many shoes feel like they are knocking off my strike and brooks ghost has some padding somewhere that flattens it out. Seem to be able to get more miles without pain.

I have been running in the Ghost since 2010 (started with the 3 I believe). I love the feel and have had basically no shoe related issues with the Ghost. The cushioning is excellent, which I appreciate, and the durability is as high as any shoe I have ever worn,

Switched from Air Pegasus 30 to this shoe. Went to Brooks website and they had the coolest feature where I put in what I currently run in and they showed me a replacement shoe. I chose the Ghost 7 and am very happy with the shoe. Slightly firmer than the Pegasus, but my feet feel great when I run in them.

Overall

Brooks Ghost has been my go-to everyday trainer / recovery shoe for several years. I'm currently wearing the Ghost 7, but it doesn't feel much different than models 3-6. Soft, cushioned, not too heavy, fits comfortably, etc. It isn't much good for anything faster than regular aerobic runs, never mind races, but I don't try to use it for anything like that. I also have a Ghost GTX pair that I save for wet, rainy days and/or when I'll be running through puddles. Other than a seam on the underside of the tongue (where the Goretex lining is sewn in), which rubs the top of my foot, the GTX version feels about the same as the regular version. One shortcoming is their durability. I was used to getting about 500 miles out of trainers like Asics Nimbus or Adidas Glide; however, with the Ghost I'm ready to retire a pair after 300-350 miles because of midsole compression. So, I try to get the on sale to mitigate the shorter wear time.
