No shoe is perfect, but this seems to be the best for me at this point in my long running career!

4/5

Overall

I have been running forever (50 years +). My running now is only 3-4 days per week, 15-20 miles per week 80% on trails. 80% easy runs at 11:30-12:30 pace. Therefore a need a show with a trail-capable tread. Nowadays, I also now prefer a more cushioned ride to give my aging body a little break. When I am running my typical easy pace, the Hoka challenger 8 almost feels like I am riding a bike with no hands. It just works well with my gait and foot strike, I feel like I am rolling. They last me about 325-350 miles, usually. I usually alternate them with another show (either diff Hoka model or Asics). Although my last pair of Challengers fell apart at about 220 miles (I returned them to REI for full refund).
