How it ranks
The Brooks Glycerin 17 is one of the strongest daily trainers in our data. Comfort and cushioning are its strongest sub-ratings. The rating is based on 21 runner reviews and 12 other rated shoes in the Glycerin product line.
Confidence
How settled the rating is against every other rated shoe. A shoe can rate high on confidence with relatively few reviews of its own when its product line has a long record and external ratings from retailer sites agree. Confidence is low when we have few ratings or when runners disagree.

96 Very high
Based on
The bars show roughly how much each source contributes to this shoe’s rating. Their influence depends on how many reviews we’ve collected, how many earlier versions are in the product line, and the external ratings available.
“They are on the heavier side, so it's hard to feel super fast in a speed workout or shorter race”
“The upper is super stretchy and accommodates foot swelling after 15+ miles”
“The Glycerins are super light-feeling for the amount of cushioning they provide”
“The cushion is fantastic and yet ever so slightly snappy and I get a bit of energy return”
“Extremely comfortable and solid cushioning without feeling squishy”
“The bottom peeled and fell off partially”
“It does tend to run about a half a size small though”
“A little on the heavy side, so not the best for racing, but for everyday training it is outstanding”
“They were the highest cushioned shoes that I have ever worn”
“The soles show their wear about 500 miles but I replace around then anyway”
“Provide sufficient cushion for a soft landing without weighing the runner down”
“I'm sliding a small amount up against the harder front upper in the 12, which adds up”
“Toe box is a little bit more narrow than previous models”
“Very soft cushioning—love it for my longer and easier runs”
“I now crave the higher level of cushioning for my slower, longer runs”
“They are a little bulky but my feet feel great after a 10 miler so I don't mind”
“My forefoot slides around a little”
“This is not a speed shoe”
