Why I love the 880v9

Overall

I purchased this shoe at the start of August this past summer and it lasted me through cross country and half of indoor (i'm a high school runner). They were very durable, and the cushoning never really seemed to wear down or compress much even though I was wearing them probably longer than I should have. I used to wear shoes that were a bit more supportive, but that felt pretty clunky, and I've found that these are really good for neutral runners but who want still a bit of stability. I would say that although not heavy, they're not exactly super light so if you're looking for a solid shoe, these are great!

You had me at less cushion

Overall

I’ve been a faithful Brooks Ghost wearer since 2013. With the last version, it felt more cushiony than I remembered and was really apparent when trying to run quicker paces. When it was time for a new pair of trainers, I automatically looked at the latest Ghost and the first thing the saleswoman said was “they added cushion to this version”. Ugh, no thanks. When I explained I was hoping for less cushion, she told me the New Balance 880’s wear comparable with less cushion. I tried them on and instantly liked the feel. It also helped they came in a bright pink color. I now have about 100 miles on the shoes and they feel like new. These are now my go to running shoe.
