Pros

  • Reviewers call it light and well cushioned, several using it for everyday miles and one for a marathon.
  • Three reviewers call it a great value at its $120 list price.
  • Reviewers name the roomy toe box and a fit that suits wider feet.

Cons

  • Durability is its lowest-rated dimension at 4.0 out of 5, and reviewers point to the exposed foam outsole.
  • Two reviewers find it too soft for track and treadmill work and reach for something more responsive on fast days.

Great lightweight shoe for everyday training

5/5

Overall

The shoe was very light weight and the cushion was very comfortable. I preferred a slightly more responsive shoe for faster days but the beacon was perfect for slower recovery days. The upper fit well and was very comfortable. Overall a great value for a great running shoe.

Fantastic lightweight trainer at a great price

4/5

Overall

Feels and runs awesome. 6 mm drop seems like the goldilocks zone for me. Not crazy bouncy or responsive but a great everyday trainer with plenty of "bottomless" cushioning. Ran a marathon recently in these and they performed well. Exposed foam outsole so durability might be an issue, but not ran into any problems yet at 100 miles. Fit is awesome.

NB Beacon v2 - Perfect for the Long Run

5/5

Overall

I was running in New Balance Vazee Pace, but it was discontinued, so I switched to the NB 890. I liked it and got through another marathon training cycle in them. But when it was time to reload, my size wasn't available at a price I was willing to pay. I had also been having some knee issues and was open to trying something different to see if it would help. After reading lots of reviews from lots of sites, I went ahead with the Beacons. I really couldn't be happier with these shoes!! They are perfectly cushioned - not to plush to be awkward, but just enough to keep my feet from getting tired after 20 miles on the pavement. These are my Long Run shoes and I absolutely love them. Will be ordering another pair pronto!

Cushioned but responsive on the road. Too soft for track and treadmill runs, however.
