How it ranks
The Nike Pegasus Trail 3 is one of the strongest trail shoes in our data. Looks and durability are its strongest sub-ratings. The rating rests on 5 runner reviews and 4 other rated shoes in the Pegasus Trail product line. Another 7 reviews would set the confidence on this shoe's own reviews.
Confidence
How settled the rating is against every other rated shoe. A shoe can rate high on confidence with relatively few reviews of its own when its product line has a long record and external ratings from retailer sites agree. Confidence will score low when we have few ratings or when runners disagree.

The Nike Pegasus Trail 3 was an unexpected find at the recently opened clearance center in Sacramento, CA. I started wearing Air Pegasus shoes for training as far back as the 1980s. I've bought a few pairs in the last several years, mainly for outdoor walking and treadmill, but each generation tended toward a narrower toe box. I started looking for the earlier models online a few years ago, but they were getting harder to find. When I came across the Trail 3 at the clearance center, they looked right and a little running in the store reinforced my thoughts. At clearance price, they have been an extremely good value. At regular retail, they're still a good value compared to a lot of other high end shoes these days. I'm a 71 year old former competitive distance runner who needs cushioning in a neutral shoe and these have been perfect for me for walking and the minimal running I still do.
