Good entry-level spike

KickingitHighSchool · Feb 6, 2018

4/5

Overall

These spikes had a little too much cushioning for my liking, but were great for my first pair. It gave me that feeling of being on my toes and getting that extra grip. Unfortunately, after one season of racing they split.

Excellent training and entry-level spike

andrewdavid12 · Feb 2, 2018

4/5

Overall

I bought the Rival D 8 because I wanted to train in a set of spikes. They run small, so I have worn them without socks and they have been surprisingly comfortable for that use. They aren't super light--not much lighter than the Nike Zoom Elite 9, simply by hand feel--but they feel fast, provide good traction, and have good support. Their low heel-to-foot drop (as with any spike) pushes more toward a forefoot strike, although the foam in the heel is more than sufficient to accommodate a heel striker. I typically use them at the end of my track session for the last few intervals, and after getting used to them they have worked very well for that. I look forward to using them in an indoor race in about a week.
