Great Value, When on Sale, Not Durable

5/5

Overall

I bought the On Cloud Surfer direct from On for around $115 or something like that. At that price, this shoe is great. I really like it for shorter easy runs and for interval workouts where I don't want a plate. It is light, responsive, firm but cushioned and doesn't bottom out. The higher drop is noticeable but I like that. It's an excellent show for moderate workouts with marathon, half marathon and 10k pace in them, and also for steasy 5-10 mile runs.

The durability in the forefoot and surprisingly the exposed outsole midfoot is fine. I strike towards the front of my feel or back of my midfoot. The way the rocker is naturally aligns with that strike pattern, which is great. But the rubber on the back heel is a little soft and it showed significant wear in less than 50 miles. I anticipate getting 200-300 miles out of this shoe (standard for me for a workout shoe). But if it was at full price, I think it'd be overpriced.

I really like this shoe. It replaced the Boston 12 in my rotation. The no plate is great.

Plush shoe for easy days

4/5

Overall

This is the first On shoe I've run in and I'm very happy with it. Narrowish fit, which I like. Heel holds.
Main impressions: Very soft and cushy...but doesn't feel mushy. Just the right feel for my 145 lbs. Not a shoe for running fast - great for easy days or long runs. Upper feels very plush - almost luxurious. Very nice roll from heel to toe.

Super comfortable and quite durable so far with nearly 100 miles on them. A bit soft so best for over 7:00 per mile pace.
