Not the place for knit uppers

r2k83 · Aug 2, 2018

4/5

Overall

When Skechers went to the GOKnit uppers I had to drop a half size down. It isn't even so much the length, but the width and looseness of the knit material. While comfortable, it isn't suited for a racing flat. I like my speed shoes to be snug and the fact that the material seems to stretch more when wet can make this difficult. The rest of the shoe is improved though. More rubber on the outsole makes it seem durable, even if they aren't the grippiest shoes. I always found them cushioned enough for long, fast workouts. They aren't improved enough for me to give them a try in the marathon after my attempt with the 3's. Still a solid workout shoe that should last a while at a great value (easy to find under $50 before the 5's were even released).

good racing shoe

Overall

It's popular with non-runners who want a piece of running: ten bicyclists blocking a whole lane and smoking pot; it's democratic. It's firm and un-cuddly, but very light. It has a roomy fit; I can run in it for hours.

Good cheap road flat

Overall

Pretty flexible, light, and modest heel-toe drop. Enough cushion (165 pound guy) to be used as a daily trainer. Thin tread and lots of exposed foam, so they’ll get torn up by rough surfaces
