Good overall shoe, although can't handle big miles very well

Overall

I've been running in the ASICS Dynaflytes since the first one came out and I've always been impressed by what it accomplishes as a lightweight trainer. The cushioning is great for the weight and the upper is very flexible and more durable than the first edition. I run a lot of miles, upwards of 100 a week, and I've found that I can't run on these shoes for the entirety of the week as the cushioning doesn't hold up as well. I find myself restricting it to a couple regular training runs and maybe a long run that I want to go a little quicker on. I have wide feet, and the size 11 works pretty well for me, although I have a little more room in the toe than I prefer, but it is no huge concern, as the width itself is perfect. Overall I think ASICS did a great job with this shoe, and I'm excited to see the third edition come out

A Step Back from the Original

fleetfoot15 · Jul 5, 2018

Overall

The Dynaflyte v1 was one of my all-time favorite shoes. It was light, comfortable, stable in the rear, and fit like a glove. I owned 5 pairs and ran over 2000 miles in them. The Dynaflyte 2 regresses. The good news is that it actually looks pretty good in person, and the laces hold knots better. But everything else is worse. The toe box material is "baggier" and ripples up when you try to tighten things down, so your forefoot ends up moving around more. The heel doesn't have the same "locked in" feeling that the v1 did. It feels lower and looser, where the old shoe supported your ankle. And the last straw for me was the new clicking noise that comes with every step. I ran 60 minutes today trying to figure out where the noise was coming from. It sounds like the little hand clickers they use in Band of Brothers to communicate with each other. The sole and mid-sole look the same as before, but something must have changed. The sound drives me nuts, and I can't get it to stop. Anyway, I won't be putting 2000 miles in on the Dynaflyte 2. I'm going to stockpile the original v1 for the next year and hope that Asics fixes the issues with the upper and gets rid of that ridiculous clicking noise

It's a good shoe

Anonymous runner · Feb 8, 2018

Overall

This shoe is fairly reliable for longer distance running. I've put in well over a thousand miles over the course of 2 or 3 different paris of the same model. It's a bit minimalist, so if you like a lot of cushioning this isn't the shoe for you. Had an injury last year so now can't run in these anymore but they were good while they lasted. Usually got about 400-500 miles out of each pair before replacement.
