Rankings combine runner ratings, whether reviewers say they'd buy a shoe again, direct comparisons to other shoes, related product-line performance, and trusted external ratings.

The darker band shows the central score range. The lighter band shows a wider range of reasonable outcomes. More reviews for this shoe usually narrow both bands.

flexible

Anonymous runner · Dec 27, 2019

5/5

Overall

I have PF and needed a flexible shoe for normal runs to avoid aggravating it. I tried every kind of minimalist or flexible shoe. These offer support and full flexibility to avoid any pain in my feet. I would not do sprintwork in these. Speedier stuff below the top end is fine. They were extremely comfortable throughout their lifespan on normal runs. They are somewhat minimalist, so the cushioning is not what you find in shoes designed for that. They also wore out, particularly the upper, sooner than average. Not too expensive. Definitely worth the price. Probably the best shoes I have purchased since sustaining some injuries I had to work around.

Brooks Pureflow 5 - high quality but uncomfortable

Anonymous runner · Feb 8, 2018

4/5

Overall

After putting around 150 miles on my Brooks Pureflow 5s, I still have scabs where the tongues of the shoes—stiffer than any shoe I've worn before—rubbed my shins raw. After a 90-minute track workout (6x1mile), I was bleeding from the shins and both little toes. However, I've stuck with the shoe and found that it has a comfortable, snug fit and feels like a sturdy well-made shoe. The sole has cushion, but it's not pillowy like my Nike Pegasus. Overall, it's a good shoe and is one of the best looking Brooks has made (I have the black w/ white accents).
