?

Rankings combine runner ratings, whether reviewers say they'd buy a shoe again, direct comparisons to other shoes, related product-line performance, and trusted external ratings.

The darker band shows the central score range. The lighter band shows a wider range of reasonable outcomes. More reviews for this shoe usually narrow both bands.

Brooks Repel 2 are an excellent shoe for every day runs

Anonymous runner · Jul 2, 2019

4/5

Overall

The shoe is comfortable and looks good enough to wear when not running. I have ran up to 15 mile long runs and they work good. A little heavy for tempo runs but not as heavy as simmilar shoes with that amount of cushion. Also work well for easy runs. The price is on the steeper side at $100. I would not have purchased them without a coupon that I had. Overall, I am glad I purchased these. I have never ran in Brooks before this pair. Note I average 50 miles a week in season and 65 during base as a high school runner for cross country and track

Runnable, Fashionable, Durable, at a great value

Overall

The Revel 2 doesn't need to wow you with gimmicky tech, over complicated materials, or any of that sneaker head exaggerated talk, but don't worry the technology is all still there, Brooks just does a great job with not rubbing it in your face with this shoe. They kept it super simple, both aesthetically and technologically, with a full length Biomogo DNA midsole, blown rubber (which is more durable that most of their lineup), it proves to be the work horse Brooks needs. The BioMogo DNA EVA cushion feels like a perfect amount. Other shoes such as the launch have always felt like they lost durability around the 200 mile mark, with the Revel 2, I don't get that same feeling. The BioMogo DNA adapts to how your foot lands in the shoe, based of the amount of force your body exerts onto the material, it softens and then reacts when you propel forward (toe-off). The shoe feels very springy and feels great to go faster in. Many people love and appreciate the ghost, but it has always felt clunkier to me, like it wants me to land heel first. That could be due to the dual density midsole, one parts BioMogo DNA in the forefoot and one part DNA Loft in the heel. The Revel is full length BioMogo DNA and feels a lot more fluid to me when it comes to foot transition. Then here is the finally kicker for me, this shoe is $100 dollars. The value in this shoe is paralleled by few other shoes. I have gotten 500 miles at least on two pairs of these shoes, doing a wide variety of training (Long runs, steady states, progression runs, fartleks). For all of the workload put on this shoe, it has felt just as good as when I put it on. This is something I rarely find in a shoe now a days, it was something that Brooks needed in their lineup. Sure, Brooks neutral shoes are great, but they needed this shoe to give the consumer a lot more options and add more versatility to their neutral lineup. Now with the Ricochet coming out, their lineup is looking really interesting and providing a lot of great options for runners to switch it up while staying in the Brooks line up. In conclusion, if you want a shoe that will give you a satisfying run and feel great for a majority of the miles, while averaging a net price of only 2 cents per mile (depending on your mileage in the shoes). Then this shoe is a Running Warehouse Budget shopper home run. Can't wait to see how this shoe evolves more as time goes on, hopefully they will keep it as simple as they are now.
