How settled the rating is against every other rated shoe. A shoe can rate high on confidence with relatively few reviews of its own when its product line has a long record and external ratings from retailer sites agree. Confidence will score low when we have few ratings or when runners disagree.

Double Bagger

2/5

Overall

I had high hopes for this "non-elevator" Hoka trail shoe. However, after only 60 easy miles on hard-pack and gravel paths, the shoe uppers began to split around the toe box creases. The webbed overlay concept adds stress to the underlying mesh material and subsequently rips it apart -- this is a very poor design and multiple complaints have been filed with Hoka One One. I returned mine for refund. Very disappointing. Besides the poor upper design, the shoe actually felt great, but ultimately, the durability issue has caused me to never purchase Hokas again.
