Confidence

How settled the rating is against every other rated shoe. A shoe can rate high on confidence with relatively few reviews of its own when its product line has a long record and external ratings from retailer sites agree. Confidence is low when we have few ratings or when runners disagree.

version III - getting closer to what's needed

4/5

Overall

I've run in each version of the Caldorado and wish they'd do their own shoe testing instead of charging me to do it after they release it, but it is improving especially in the durability department. Like all trail shoes the previous version just don't last in muddy, dirty, or dusty conditions, with the upper breaking down and getting holes much earlier than road-only shoes. They've gone to a cloth with a overlaid tightenter that seems to last longer so far. They fit kind of loose - I think maybe they are designed too wide - it's hard to get them tight enough for technical terrain w/o being too tight in the laces. Thick socks have helped fill the shoe box and provide more confidence in technical terrain but they can still slip around on the foot.
