Thought I'd hate it, but I love it

5/5

Overall

When I first saw the shoe I thought it looked weird and when I first put it on, I felt unstable. I was thinking I was going to hate it, but by a mile into the first run I loved it. It feels light and fast and has wonderful forefoot cushioning. I'd recommend it for any mid or forefoot striker, and even for a heel striker who would like to be encouraged to get more onto the midfoot. Also, unlike the first impression, it is plenty stable for a neutral runner/mild pronator. It's more of a racing/tempo shoe than a grind-out-the-miles standby. First New Balance shoe I've been enthusiastic about in a long time.

Needs a better insole

4/5

Overall

Very nice, light and flexible shoe. Almost perfect for me, but I think the insole is too cheap. After about 7-8k, the insole can start to move and scrunch up, causing a ridge in the middle, which is painful to land on with each foot strike. Zante has the same issue. Either make the shoe with a better one or glue this one in place.
