As a non-marathoner, I wear this shoe specifically for tempo runs, and it is absolutely perfect. I usually wear them for the entire workout (including warm-up and cool down) and they always have enough cushioning to get me through 15+ miles. The shoe is fast though, and I have no problem really getting up on my toes and turning it over. Would consider wearing them for a 10k road race, but I think they would really shine at 13.1 and 26.2. Only note - similar to the Streak LT3, I needed to go up half a size for these to fit properly, the shoe just fits a little smaller than the other Nike shoes that I've worn (Pegasus, Vomero, Elite, past versions of the Streak and Streak LT).
Fits to size. The Flyknit is extremely durable, especially compared to the regular Nike Zoom Streak 6 that has a lot of problems with the durability of the upper. I've done almost every workout (twice a week), plus some long and recovery runs in these shoes for 5 months. No signs of tearing and limited signs of wear on the sole. It's light and responsive, locks the heel heel down we'll, and is pretty comfortable given it's weight.

Good shoe, but lacks versatility of discontinued Lunaracer

I have done most of my training in Lunaracers for the past 7-8 years, but needed to find a replacement after they were discontinued. The Streak 6 provides a similar fit but with a firmer and less substantial feel. I really enjoy them for tempo work and would be comfortable using them for road races 5k to marathon. I also do a lot of running on trails and the grippy forefoot held up admirably. However, the Streak 6 was not substantial enough for me to do long runs (90 min to 2 hrs is about the max that they feel good for me) and they fall short of the Lunaracer in that regard. The Streak 6 is a good shoe to have in your quiver, but it's not the all-around stalwart that the Lunaracer was.
In terms of mesh vs flyknit: mesh will give you a more locked in fit, but flyknit is more durable, especially in wet conditions. The mesh will tear easily on steep downhills if it is wet.
I am a sprinter/triple jumper and I use this shoes exclusively for track workouts. The shoe's lockdown is uncanny and keeps your foot in even on tight indoor turns. It is responsive, it isn't supposed to be soft. The outsole has some rubber overlays that help with grip a little. Overall awesome track workout shoe.
