Saucony Liberty ISO

4/5

Overall

Very soft cushy shoe, fairly light and responsive has a 4mm heel to toe drop with just a smidgen of support. The midsole is made of the same stuff they put in croc shoes but just a little heavier and a little more durable. The upper is pretty roomy can accommodate a high arch. The only negatives I would say is that the tongue slides down on occasion. All in all it is a great trainer.

Saucony Liberty Iso

4/5

Overall

I use the Liberty ISO for more of my faster runs and long races. I am a heavier runner, 180 lbs so a true racing flat does not work for me. I need a little more cushioning and support and the Liberty ISO is lighter than my normal trainer Triumph 3. The fit of the Liberty is a little more narrow than the Triumph but works for me because my foot is slightly narrow. I would feel comfortable using the Liberty for a 1/2 marathon and probably marathon if I got in shape for one. The Liberty ISO has decent forefoot cushion but still offers flexibility in the forefoot. I am generally hard on shoes and rarely get the mileage out of shoes most people do. I like the everrun midsole in the Triumph as well as the Liberty. I am happy in both shoes.

first of it's kind I think

5/5

Overall

I love that there's finally a minimalist-type (lower heel-toe drop) shoe on the market for those of us who need a stability shoe. It seemed as if shoe companies have always assumed up until this point that only neutral runners would want a lower drop shoe, and most (if not all) stability shoe-wearers want a bigger heel. This stability/low drop shoe is supportive enough to save my post-tibial tendon from destruction over time, but lets me experience a comfortable and runnable low drop shoe. I love it! *note: definitely an adjustment period as I've always run in shoes with massive-feeling heels due to my stability need. I didn't switch over to this shoe cold turkey, eased into it to save calves.
